Prof. dr. Emmanuel de Dios

Emmanuel S. De Dios is the former Dean of the School of Economics and the Amado V. Hernandez Professor of Economics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He is also the Chair of the Technical Committee for Economics at the Commission on Higher Education and a Trustee and Treasurer of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards Foundation.

His research interests include institutions and economic development, history of economic thought, international economics and the theory of individual choice. In 1998, he received the Outstanding Research Paper Award as co-author for the article Exchange rate policy: past failures and future tasks from the National Academy of Science and Technology. He also received the Outstanding Publication Award in 1997 from the same organization as editor and co-author of the book Poverty, Growth and Fiscal Crisis. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of the Philippines and was awarded a post-graduate fellowship at Universität Konstanz in Germany.
